Melbourne Lacrosse, or officially MCC (Melbourne Cricket Club) Lacrosse Section was founded in 1896 by players formerly affiliated with the Caulfield and Melbourne clubs. The Lacrosse Section helped to host MCG international matches in 1907 and 1958, the latter game being organised by inaugural Hans Ebeling Award winner Bill Gray. The Section won its first Victorian Lacrosse Association (VLA) premiership in 1920 and another in 1927. Although nearly always competitive, many decades passed before the MCC’s senior team won its next Victorian premiership in 2005. MCC Lacrosse section has men’s teams in most divisions of the Victorian league. We also have Women’s and Junior teams. The Victorian League is arguably the most competitive league in Australia. The season runs from late April until early August with finals at the end of August and the start of September. Being associated with the MCC we have many resources at our disposal and boast a proud culture with strong traditions.
